Why I love sunsets

I can see the sky taking on shades of orange again, alas! Here comes my favorite afternoon sight once more after days of rain and gloominess. I rested my back comfortably on my office chair, peaceful deep breathes and I smiled. I realized that even if I had the worst day ever, there are still reasons to be grateful about. Every sunsets remind me that everything will just pass by and there will always be another new day to come, there will always be a beautiful sunrise to look forward to.

My beautiful sunset view from the office.

When I think about it, I have my own sunsets and sunrises. Frustrations, depressions and hopelessness, dealing with all of these sometimes make me ask myself, what’s the purpose of living? what’s the reason to wake up every day when there’s no hope? But I guess I’m wrong, cause what just my roommate told me, everything has its own time. It won’t happen overnight or in a snap. HARD WORK, DETERMINATION along with PATIENCE, your ingredients for success with of course, the blessing of God above.

Sunsets indicate the beginning of night, but darkness will only last from dusk till dawn, it might be long but for sure it doesn’t last forever. Another smile paints my lips, such beauty… I took another deep breaths and I’m certain, I have so many reasons to move on and look forward for brighter days.

“Sinulog, a celebration of culture and faith!”

If u haven’t heard of Philippines yet, it’s one of those countries rich in culture and traditions in Asia. Filipino practices ,even up to these days, reflects the people’s ways of life which undeniably are associated with their religious faith- which I think, the core of Filipino values and traditions. One of Philippines’ interesting practices is their festivities in different cities in the country, and when it comes to Philippines’ festivals, for those people who have known Philippines, one would always come in mind- The “Sinulog festival ” known as the mother of all festivals in the country. Sinulog is celebrated annually in Cebu every third Sunday of January. The festival isn’t just known in the island but also acknowledge nationwide and of every Filipinos all over the world. It is originally from the cebuano word “sulog” which means “water current movement”  that actually describes the forward- backward sinulog dance. More than its word’s meaning, sinulog dance signifies how Cebuanos, from worshiping their pagan gods, turned their reverence and faith to the miraculous child Sto. Niño after Christianity was first introduce in the island. What makes it remarkably unique and interesting? for a day, the festival shows how rich our history is and how it mirrors the culture and traditions of every Cebuano. The festival shows how people, in their faith, put their indifference aside and gather together as one!

People shows their respect and devotion to Sto. Niño, the miraculous child.

Sinulog normally has 8-11 hours street dance on the main roads of the Cebu city.
For a day, people enjoy this amazing and colorful event !
contingents from different parts of the country all come together to participate and enjoy!

Thus, undeniably, Sinulog festival is indeed a celebration worth celebrating for, a celebration of culture and of faith… VIVA PIT SENIOR!!!

Live a LIFE

We often wonder why life has to be hard and why is it difficult to be happy. As we keep on pondering about life we tend to look back to where everything was once easy, that’s when we were still kids playing with our mates, with toys which sometimes we think what matters in the whole world. That’s how easy life is in the eyes of a child. But as we grow, we see what reality is outside those comforting walls we used to shelter ourselves. When we start to venture and live, to stand on our own, we realize that..no, life isn’t what we always want it to be, it isn’t what we were used to but..yes, we have to live it and work hard to make it what we want it to be. And by working hard I mean, don’t let anyone stop you. Do everything you want as if you’re running the whole world. As long as you’re not stepping anyone down and keeping your heads up aiming to reach for your goals.

  1. Know yourself.

It’s normal that we get lost in track. Life is a journey and every steps we make will lead us to different directions which sometimes are confusing. As we go along, we meet people, we learn and change. But despite the rerouting and humps along the road, we should get a grip of who we are, not a shadow of anyone nor someone the society pressured us to be but a person who we want to be with an identity that defines us as US.

2. Set a goal.

Setting a goal isn’t easy. It won’t be an overnight realization. Try to know your deepest passion. Picture out the things you’ve always wanted to do. And from your deepest desire comes out the dream you would want to achieve.

3. Act and achieve it.

Go get it girl! Don’t let those dreams remain only as your wishes. As soon as you have those goals start sorting: the short term goals, long term goals and lastly the life time goals. Next is not to forget how to be SMART : specific, measurable, attainable, reasonable and time bounded. Remember, goals are dreams with deadlines, actions are needed, make it real and don’t let it end up as your lifetime wishes which would slowly fade as time runs.

Let’s not forget, as what I have said earlier, life isn’t a smooth sailing journey. These things are easier to be said than done but what matters is as long as we are breathing let’s not forget how to live and live the life worth living. In doing so, we need to know ourselves, set our goals, act and reap what we sow.
